Massage Therapy

In our modern society taking time for ourselves with massage is no longer a luxury; it’s a means to replenish our body and mind. We believe the role of massage therapy is to support the body’s own healing capacity by integrating with other natural healing disciplines. Therapeutic massage helps quiet the mind, relax the body and facilitate connection with our higher good, our spirit.

Massage promotes wellness by improving circulation of blood, facilitating the removal of metabolic toxins, and supporting immune system functions and promotes healthy skin. Relaxing soft muscle tissue supports skeletal function and alignment and improve joint mobility. Regular massage can be helpful in eliminating tension headaches, relieving tired and sore muscles, and reducing stress and anxiety. Massage therapy creates a sense of well being and balance that the body needs to renew itself.

What to expect

Our massage therapists are highly ethical and concerned foremost with client comfort. Once clients are escorted to a private room, therapists take time to understand the client’s desires and goals prior to each session. Then the therapist will leave the room to allow the client time to get comfortable on the massage table. Soft music and dimmed lighting are used to enhance relaxation and the overall massage experience.

Prior to or during each session clients are encouraged to ask questions or share concerns as necessary. Clients are in control of their session and are welcome at any time to request changes in massage pressure, room temperature, or otherwise to enhance comfort.

Prenatal Massage or pregnancy massage is massage therapy specifically tailored for the expectant mother’s needs. Our therapists take great care to properly position and support a woman’s body during the massage to ensure comfort and safety for mom and baby. Prenatal massage has been found to reduce stress, decrease swelling in the arms and legs, and relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints. Along with chiropractic care, it’s a popular complementary therapy during pregnancy for back pain, when choices for pain relief, such as medication, are often limited. Not only can massage be physically beneficial, but the human touch can be comforting and provide emotional support during pregnancy.

Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones of black volcanic rock that absorb and retain heat well. Stone massage is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. Stones of various shapes and sizes are sanitized and heated in 120 to 150 degree water. Techniques of Swedish massage are used while holding a heated stone. Tight muscles benefit from heat of the stones. Stones are often places at specific points along the spine or in palms of the hand to improve flow of energy in the body. Clients are encouraged to request change in pressure or stone temperate at any time during the stone massage session.

BODYWORK

CranioSacral Therapy (CST)is a light-touch technique that works with the natural and unique rhythms in the craniosacral system – the physical environment in which the brain and spinal cord develop and function. CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating the function of the central nervous system and used to correct underlying sources of imbalance or dysfunction. By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical concerns including, but not limited to colic, ear infections, learning disabilities, motor-coordination impairments, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, emotional difficulties, and stress and tension-related problems.

Sensory Repatterning is a psychologically grounded physical approach to muscle and mental relaxation. The underlying theory is that many physical conditions begin in the mind. During a Sensory Repatterning session, the body may reveal chronic patterns of holding and limitation. The gentle movement and traction coax muscles and joints back into their natural state of being, allowing the client slowly to give up muscular and mental control and sink into a deep state of relaxation. After reminding the central nervous system of natural, pain-free movement, clients report a heightened awareness of their body and spirit, leaving them feeling more free and light.
